    LIS-10 (2018)

The sound sculpture 'LIS-10' interactively addresses the relationship between science and music, reacting to sound inputs both as a self-regulated living organism and as an interactive system. The installation was presented at Palazzo Costanzi for the 2018 European Researchers' Night.

    Vexations: Soliloquy (2017, excerpt)

The documentary Vexations: Soliloquy tells about an innovative interpretation of the complete E. Satie’s Vexations in the form of a solo performance titled Vexations: The Series for piano and live-electronics by Adriano Castaldini. In September 2016, during the three days of the Trieste Next sci-tech festival, the pianist and multimedia artist Adriano Castaldini performed an open-air solo of the entire Vexations conceiving a very new way of interpreting this piece, i.e. making “audible” the psycho-physical experience of vexation during the performance by translating in real-time the data coming from his body (detected by EEG, EMG, GSR and temperature sensors) into control values for processing the amplified sound of the mic’d piano.

Excerpt from the documentary Vexations: Soliloquy, premiered at the Miela Theater in Trieste on May 16, 2017. In 2018, Vexations: The Series won the Piccialli Award as the best contribution to the Scientific Programme of the CIM (Colloquium on Music Informatics) organized by AIMI (Association of Italian Music Informatics).
